anyway like i was saying, i'm surprised voice recognition hasn't been implemented yet, considering every pda has a built in microphone. the potential is there, even if you have to install a third party program to do it, i wouldn't mind it as long as it worked.

One thing I love about Streets and Trips is that I can plan my trip on my pc, easily customize a different route if desired and then save it to my usb kangaroo drive and then easily import it into my carpc. I hate having to start up my carpc IG app and then define different favorites or poi's to get the route I want. With S&T's, open file and I'm done. Simple and fast and I can save all my trips so I can easily recall them anytime.

At least twice a year, I travel from Upstate NY to the Florida Keys. Neither S&T nor IG picks the route I want to go (they always route me towards the DC area but I prefer Rt 81 to Rt 66 etc.) but with S&T, I can EASILY right click on points and add them to the route and then simply say redo the route. For me, S&T is hands down the bast for that. The other thing that I like more about S&T is the ability to visually see routes/road names/etc. clearly. Zoom out in IG and S&T and it's pretty clear that S&T is more detailed and clearer.

In S&T, I love the way I can have the directions pane open, click on any "point" (eg turn on this road) and it quickly displays that point on the nav map...really easy and clear.

IG's voice is much clearer than S&T and it's auto rerouting is hands down better than S&T but for the most part, I use IG simply because it's "built in" to RR and DigitalFX but I am looking at the source now for Mappoint/S&T and if I can get them to work the way I want (like muting winamp volume on gps speech), I might permanently switch.

    Just my $0.02

@ stupidjunior in the meantime you can try my IGQ app

I've been told it works with 4.0 but you'll need to use a different patch for 4.0 than the one included on my site. i think its in the original thread (the 4.0 patch that is)

Are you ####'in kidding me? All this time and that's all I needed to do?
Thanks for the info, I will surely do that next time. It's too bad you couldn't open a certain itinerary file (eg, ToKeyWest.dat) so you can keep all your trips like I do with S&T maps.

Ironically, we were going to a party this weekend when a severe storm rolled in ahead of us and knocked down trees blocking the main entrance. I tried zooming out with IG to view surrounding roads within a 50 mi radius and it just wasn't good enough so I started up S&T, viewed adjoining roads and simply right clicked several points to map out a new route and away we went...very easy and very handy.

Landrover nav systems have an "electronic breadcrumb" feature where if you are driving on a trail, the nav system leaves markers so you can reverse your route if the trail you are on is not on the maps.

This would be handy for when driving in an area you aren't too familiar with, if IG could simply reverse the path you took.
