Honestly, I don't think it matters much.
Whichever one is cheaper, I guess.
Okay, so I have narrowed my search down to two choices. The Holux GR-213 or the Globalsat BU-353 USB.
I'd be running Routebuddy. But I honestly don't know which one to go for. Links are down below.

I'd suggest the Holux because I use it and I know it works. I never used the other one.
Ampie Case
2.5" Hard Drive 80GB Samsung 5400RPM
256 MB DDR2 PC5400
Xenarc 700TSV - VGA Monitor
Intel D945GCLF Motherboard
M2-ATX-HV
2005 Honda Civic
the built in battery seems like like a good idea in the holux.
Jae
Both units have an internal battery. For what, I have no clue.
I use a BU353 and have never had a single issue with it.
So you've got one vote for the BU353 and one for the GR213. Do what you want with that.
DarquePervert,
Where do you have your gps mounted? I read (don't know where) that the BU 353 is so good that it can be mounted under a seat, and still pick up a location in a garage.
Is that true? have you had any issues with city driving in urban environments, or in areas with deep foliage?
MAHERIANO,
Where do you have the holux mounted? How does it work in urban and rural areas with dense foliage?
Think it would work in the glove box?
Also, is this how it would work
GPS -------> powered USB hub ---------> carputer (mac mini)
OR, do I need to power it separately? I'd like something that can just be plugged into the computer via usb.
It's Sirf Star III, it'll work anywhere. I have mine inside the fan shroud stuck to a piece of metal in there. There's a magnet in the 213 so it sticks (VERY WELL) to any metal around it. I put it on the side of my desk and needed 2 hands to get it off. I just popped the vent off, put it inside and put the vent back on. Nobody can see it.
You also asked how I find it in urban areas with dense foliage. I just used this last month to drive about 9000 kilometers from Calgary, Alberta to Atlanta, Georgia and never had a problem with it anywhere. It's bulletproof.

I have the BU353 also... sitting in my desk stuck on my PC (magnet) and every time I go to mess with it, I ALWAYS get at least 8/12 satelites every time I open iGuidance. im with DarquePervert with this one... i think both will do excellent but as for personal opinions..... BU353 gets a vote from me just because I already have it.
