I read in another thread that someone had an add-in for Google Earth that allowed routing. I have no idea where you are in NZ, but I just looked, and they have some detailed coverage. With cached maps, could this be a solution? I know that a lot of people are running GE in RoadRunner.

woodsnuff. look out for the upcoming garmin mobile pc.

Only problem is it will be sold with US maps. I am not sure if it will be made to adapt to third party map like the way with did with nRoute.

    solution:
computer with a generic usb GPS receiver
run this program "GPSGate" it emulates and gps to pretty much any other format. ($40US)

get the program nRoute from garmin (unpack the garmin stuff like you would a zip file with winrar, then run the main.msi, that gets around the device detection)

get the map loading program mapsource from garmin

you can set GpsGate (as in the solution above) output to send to Google Earth.

edit. I might have misunderstood the question?

Ok I get to loading Mapsource. It starts, runs & then I get "MapSource could not find any installed MapSource map products. Please install one or more MapSource products and start MapSource again." What am I doing wrong?
