Have you tried checking the device in the device list on the bottom? Is it on a hub with other USB devices?
I remember seeing a post a while back on freezing problems with the BU-353 and xport when coming out of hibernation, but I can't seem to find them again so I'm making a new post.
I have a BU-353 (USB GPS) being routed into XPort so that both RoadRunner and iGuidance 4 can access it. However, sometimes (about 50% of the time), when my carpc comes out of hibernation, neither RR or iGuidance are receiving GPS info. When this happens, xport's little information block down at the bottom of the window shows it frozen on some random GPS string. The only way to unfreeze it is to unplug and replug the GPS receiver. Anyone have this problem/know how to fix it? Is it a hardware issue (BU-353 not getting restarted on hibernation resume) or a software issue (xport not liking hibernation)? Thanks in advance for any help.

"checking the device in the device list on the bottom"... Not really sure what that means. Device list on the bottom of XPort? Cause there's no device list on the bottom of xport, just a display of the current NMEA data. Is there supposed to be a device list? Do you mean the virtual port selections? Yes, they're both set to the correct ports (5 and 6 if you're curious) with input port == 3. And I have the "enable service" box checked. Not sure if this will change anything, but I've started leaving the XPort program 'open' (not minimized to the taskbar) all the time. I hope this will help, but I haven't been able to really test it thoroughly yet.
The GPS is plugged into the computer directly, no external hub. But, correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm kinda going on a tangent here, I was under the impression that all USB ports on a computer were all attached to the same central internal/logical USB hub, so what difference would attaching another hub make anyway? I thought that was the whole point of USB, that it was daisy chain-able.
download the latest xport, and you will see the list..
you can always try and download gpsgate, which does the same job and is a little more stable..but it is not free..download the trial and see..
