    Of course it should be a third party app. I just thought there already is one, and I don't know about it. Than someone has to code it... Too bad I haven't been programming since high school. And that was quite a few years ago.
    Would somebody be interested in this? The software should be universal, meaning it should take the names of two windows, and listen to one's audio output, and mute the other's. This way it could be used with other musicplayer/nav combinations.

    Let me bring this app to Your attention:
    http://www.filetransit.com/view.php?id=27492

    This especially sounds promising:
    " When application marked as "exclusive" plays a sound, IndieVolume automatically mutes all other applications. "

    I just came across this, will test it and get back with the results!

    a "pay-for" app isnt ideal IMHO. I'm tryin to do research now seeing if i can find code snippet that will essentially tell me if an application is sending sound to DirectSound. If i can do that and track its source the rest is easy.

    It's far from ideal. This was a first result on google. Maybe digging some more on the internet we could find an opensource proggy, suitable for the job.

    LATER EDIT:
    this app doesn't seem to work. It doesn't control anything, not to mention the "exclusive mode" (mute all applications when the exclusive one plays a sound)
    I'm on Vista x64, maybe it's just me... @lacning74 please let me know how it worked for you.

    Well it doesnt't work, but it doesn't do harm either. My IGO doesn't crash... it doesn't even notice something is there.
    Sent them an email, though without any expectations.

    Perhaps this excerpt from the sound portion of system.ini will lend some clues.

    Code:
    [sound]
    os_volume="149"
    button_sound="button"
    reminder_sound="oasis_alarm1"
    incallknown_sound="oasis_alarm1"
    incallunknown_sound="oasis_alarm1"
    sound_volume="64"
    voice_volume="64"
    dynamic_volume_type="1"
    dynamic_volume_minspeed="60"
    dynamic_volume_maxspeed="130"
    dynamic_volume_voicemaxspeed="60"
    dynamic_volume_voice_volume_max="63"
    dynamic_volume_os_volume_max="255"
    os_muted="0"
    sound_muted="1"
    Can RR modify this system.ini file? If so my idea is to change the os_volume value, as it changes as I adjust sys volume. Or maybe perhaps the os_muted value?

    This discussion starts to move away from iGO 2008, so I would suggest separating it into a new thread! The volume control deserves a separate thread (I couldn't find one), and I'm not the only one interested in it!

    @blk02si: Which system ini file is that? Roadrunner's, or Windows'? Changing the os_volume wouldn't affect all running apps, incl IGO too?

    Further, if we are to start a new thread, it should be something universal, not just a hack for RR, or Centrafuse, but a usable software for the operating system itself.
