    holux 236 gpslim .. issues charging / using bt

    Ok so this unit works fine via bt. but I wanna have it charging all the time via usb.. the only issue is my pc keeps popping up with usb device not recognized.

    anyone have a solution ? dont wanna buy a usb cable from holux..

    I am afraid you need to buy their cable, it has weird wiring.

    yah.. i think ill just hardwire it with my usb phone charger... but my issue now is that I have to have it on all the time or road runner slows to a halt looking for my receiver... :-(

    The mini-B "USB" plug on the 236 is not USB at all... you can only charge with that port if you don't have the Holux USB cable.

    You don't need the special USB cable from Holux, if you only want to charge it via USB. Charging will work just fine with any USB cable. You will be able to use the Bluetooth function to connect to your GPS software.

    There should be a way to kill the "usb device not recognized" message for good - not sure how, but there must be a way :-).
