easiest way to get traffic nav on carpc ?

I'm looking @ getting navigation for my Carputer. What will I need to get in order to have live traffic updates?

I have sirius. How can I link sirius traffic to my nav?(like the new alpine and pioneer nav units can)

or will I have to get real time traffic some other way ? how do you guys do it ?

I don't think there are any working PC solutions.....we need a USB-RDS TMC device , TMC service and PC sw that supports TMC... lots of variables..the aim is to have the traffic updates reroute the gps sw around traffic automatically.

Right now I get live traffic feeds through the internet(RSS feed), but that doesn't interface with my sw, IGO8 PC.

I think someone may be working on an internet xml traffic->TMC->virtual com port driver.

    Good luck....

I have this already integrated via widget on Windows7, with a mobile broadband internet solution.

The widget incorporates, live up to the minute traffic jams, accidents and such; allowing me to reroute my travel in advance where ever they may be.

Here's a screenshot; the yellow icons with an exclamation point are traffic alerts

I suppose another option is to use a Windows Mobile emulator and run google maps which shows traffic jams. Or even Garmin XT which does live traffic.

Showing traffic (via internet) or having it integrated with your turn by turn nav software with auto rerouting, are quite different, imho...

Do any of the Windows Mobile sw ie Garmin, Tom Tom or IGO, allow for traffic info from the internet , and thus auto reroute around traffic?

I should give them a try as I have an HTC Touch with unlimited data.

I know for sure that Garmin Mobile XT has that feature. IGo doesn't and I don't know about the latest version of Tom Tom.

Garmin mobile XT is only for PDAphones (WinMo, Palm, or Symbian).

I suppose it would be possible to run it through an emulator but you would have to somehow bypass the built-in security that only allows it to be run from the SD card. the website states:

"Note: Due to proprietary and security reasons, it is not possible to transfer your Garmin Mobile XT data to a larger card.".

if it won't let you run it from a different/larger SD card then I doublt it would let it run from a PC's HDD or even a USB SD card reader. even if you could get around that, would it know to use the PC's internet connection?

looks like it would be a nice option if they made a PC version.
