Looks Great! Is there any way round the required internet connection foreseeable in the future?
I may. I have not decided yet. It is quite sloppy as it sits right now, so I would definitely want to clean it up before sharing.
Specifically what was the problem on the Linux box?

There are programs that cache Google maps for you. I used one before, it allowed you to save a map of the area you wanted to travel into a folder. The program then allowed you to hook up a GPS and it would tell you where you are. It was very very cool, but there were no directions![]()

Just added a new version for download and new screenshots to the original post. Hopefully someone will give it a shot and let me know if it works on on their machine.
Oh wow. I'd love to test, but my carPC does not have internet connection.

Yeah. That seems to be the issue everyone is bringing up. Once i get this finished, I may start looking into developing a new app with Air that will use OSM or something. I say AIR, because it allows for the cross-platform ability easily, though I may look into other technologies. But thats all for another thread at another time.
Your always welcome to install the app on your home PC to test it out and provide feedback on the interface, as I will probably base any other apps I make off of this interface.
wow.. thank you for finally making a real windows gps app. i will surely try this and can help with any feedback you might want... i tether my cellphone to my carpc so internet is always on for me anyway.
Since this is using Google Maps, is there a way to integrate a network linked KML file (for say, live traffic info?). I haven't downloaded it yet, but will be checking it out when I have some time.
Thanks. I think your the first person to try it out (or at least first to post) other than kev000 who tried on linux and had issues (still not sure what exactly they were). Its nice to hear someone like it.
As far as OSM, I want to complete the google maps version first, and then start work on an OSM version. I figure that way I have a lot of feedback, etc so the OSM version will be better.
I think so. There has been some work done by someone else on a KML parser in actionscript, but I have not tested it yet. I am going to test, as well as get permission by the author of the KML parsing class to use it, and if all goes well, this will be something I can support.
