you will not be able to use the internal gps from the blackberry.
I have a blackberry curve from sprint, and i want to find a way to use the GPS antenna in it to feed my laptop, either over bluetooth or usb. Doesnt matter which. I dont use this phone anymore, so i am willing to software/firmware hack it. i have searched this forum and blackberry forums, and find nothing. Anyone done it, know how to do it.
I am looking for a free solution.
I am trying not to spend any money at all.
I want to contribute to the open map project and need a gps receiver some how.
Thanks

Thats what i have been told, but i simply dont believe it.
On a windows mobile device(shoot me now if i ever own one again) there are programs, such as GPSGate which make it possible. I have to believe that between this and other communities of programing geniuses, it can be done.
you can have that discussion with mr.RIM himself
lol, as for now, there is no application that will allow you to tap into the internal gps.
trust me, i would know, i've been a bb admin for 6 years.
Why? When I had my 8130 the GPS was crap. I even did a side by side comparison with my 8130 and my TouchPro. The TouchPro connected to more sats, and faster than the 8130 thought about. In google maps my touchpro was closer to my actual location. The 8130 said I was in city somewhere... Maybe the curve is different... Maybe they updated firmware to fix the GPS I quit keeping up with BB when I got my TP... jm2c...
your 8130 was not using gps , it was using cellular triangulation. (whilst using google maps)
verizon recently allowed use of the internal gps with an OS update.
did u update?
I will admit that the HTC products have amazing GPS accuracy, but Windows Mobile is such a flawed system. Blackberry's software is just far superior
