Try running iGuidance without xport, see if it works. I have the exact same symptoms sometimes when running xport.
Replace my motherboard, brand new install everything went gd. Before my trip everything worked good. On the way up it started to act weird. I would be on the road i want to and the wayfinder would be off to the right and it said off road. Then after a while it would go back to the road i was on. Get to where I had to, shut the truck off and later on went out nav dont work. It shows no satellites, meanwhile nothing changed. I am using xport, USGlobsat BU 353 GPS receiver, and Iguidance. MY previous motherboard setup worked great no issue. Now all of the sudden I have this. The receiver goes directly into the usb on the motherboard. I tried to re-install the drivers, restart the machine but nothing. In xport it shows the gps and bit rate. When I open iguidance itself from desktop and have it search com port for GPS it finds it but no satellites. Any ideas?

RevFE - Super fast, modular frontend. Most powerful skinning engine in existence. Strong enough for an i7 made for a fitpc.Originally Posted by mitchjs
Just a shame I can't justify a carpc to use it on anymore.
try a different usb port

ran it without xport, tried different usb hubs. Even hooked up my laptop which I know worked cause I used it last weekend and still no signal. Think its the receiver, whats weird is its in a good spot never touched. I'll order a new one, think im gonna go with one that has the wifi as well. What do you guys recommend?
Zap it!But read this first: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/gps/...u-353-lag.html

kewl, i'll play around with that tomorrow. thx
I've been working on xport to show less cryptic information at the bottom, but I can gaurantee the GPS doesn't get better or worse reception with xport. The only time people are fiddling with it is when they have poor reception that takes random amounts of time to lock.
You should log some data and look at it afterwards and try to find any differences between the good periods and bad. You could see corrupt data, short sentences with lots of ,,,, in them or missing sentences (i.e no $GPGGA, $GPGSA), but most likely it's reception. In iGuidance go to View->GPS Info. Look at the little bars on the bottom that are moving up and down. If you don't see those, you have a problem.
I just bought a used BU-359 off ebay and it only had GPVTG. Started up Sirfdemo and selected what I wanted and it worked great. But I've never seen a GPS change settings without manually changing them.
during the trip there was no satellites when the problem occurred. now I get 2 satellites and they are low. The position of the receiver has not changed in over a year.
That's not good. You sure you haven't added anything electronic near it? Even though the position hasn't changed, you should try moving it to see if things improve. Then as a last resort use SirfDemo. Switch to sirf then back to NMEA.
so here is the verdict, hooked up the gps to my laptop again got no signal. Opend sirfdemo played around and all of the sudden got signal. Think i save a couple of logs will post later. Gps is working, will hook it back up to carpc and see what happens. Did all of this without removing it from the car
