    GPS Receiver and Auto Tint

Has anyone had any good luck with this? I know it's been said that it doesn't work but I'm just curious if anyone has had any good lock with gps receivers in the car with tint. I just purchased a RAND MCNALLY GPS RECEIVER and was hopeing it might work in the back of my Tahoe that has tint. Thanks for any replies,

    Reggie

I will post my result and pics of the Tahoe this weekend.

Well I got my RAND MCNALLY GPS RECEIVER today and it works fine in the back of my tahoe with tint. I am so happy, I won't have to run long cables to the front of my truck, I am so tired of running cable LOL. It does work, I haven't put it through a very long test just drove around the block. I will make notes and show them here.

I know when I had the RX-7 it had more of a "silver" tint and I had more issues with getting a lock than with my current car which has the normal "dark" tint. I also had issues with my alarm in the 7. It worked off of RF and I could stand ten feet away sometimes and I would have a problem with arm/disarm. But, again, with my current car I can be close to a 1/4 mile away and it works on a clear day.

The guy at the alarm store said it was due to the metal in the "silver" type of tint...So, if you've got silver this may be the problem...

I can't view the pictures either, and metalic tints have been known to cause problems with anything RF (grps, wifi, radar).

When I tried the rand Mcnally gps antenna on my rear window -2002 Jetta

I would get some problems such as longer lock times, and just bad directions sometimes. That could be copilot error.

But now I ran the cables to the fron underneath the windshield, no tints

It works perfectly fine now. And the satellites lock on the second I run copilot.
    Mine needs to be updated.
