    XPort & GPS stops working

I have been using XPort to share my GPS quite a while now (in 2 different installs starting from 2006). Now it has for some reason stopped working, not really sure what is causing it to stop work, canīt really pin point if I updated some software or what caused this.

What happens is after reboot XPort finds and shares the GPS to 2 COM ports fine, but after ~15minutes it stops working, GPS software says "no hardware". Looking in XPort it seems like it is getting some data from the GPS receiver but not being able to pass it on. I have tried re-installing the GPS drivers, tried with an older version of XPort without solving this. Resuming from hibernation doesnīt give me 15minutes more, I have to reboot it...

Anyone can help me with this? Can I debug XPort somehow?

I have now made some more testing, still with the same problem...

I updated RR, Flash and Xport to the latest versions available to date, I even tried changing the ports to which Xport creates the virtual ports, same issue.

It really seems like it is Xport which just "lags", which also can be seen on the speedo / gps map when it doesnīt follow correctly. I checked the CPU load aswell, lays around 5% so it canīt be that.

Hasnīt anyone had any problems like this before? Or do you have any ideas how to uninstall every trace of Xport to install it again?

been using it for years and its always seems to be a crap shoot. I use hibernate, sometimes it works, some times it doesn't. To fix it I have to turn off the computer, then restart. Just restarting won't do it. Powering off is required.

I have the same issue. Sometimes it works for hours and sometimes a few min.
It seems that the prolific driver is the problem or the way the XP use it. When it goes off then Xport show no change to the data it suppose to get from the driver. I've use an old version, the version that is on the USGobalSat site and the latest one from prolific.
How can I completely remover the prolific driver in order to install the newer version?

if you keep power to the gps permantly, you won't need xport, unless you still would like to split your gps to multiple ports.

What is the best way to keep permanent power on the GPS?
I tried a powered USB hub and a 5V 500mA PSP game console power supply.
The problem is that when I restart the PC, then the Mouse and power LED just flash and the PC does not boot up.
I also tried a hacked USB cable with a rely but then XP detect the device but after a few seconds it say that it can’t be recognised.
