    Streetfimder2000 or MapPoint?

I have a serial GPS for laptop "Streetfinder Deluxe 2000". I am going to use this antenna, until I connect my touchscreen(1 serial port). Which program is better. Do I need anything besides the MapPoint CDs and the antenna for it to work? I want to use media engine v2.0 when it comes out, so I figure I'll be using mapPoint at that time.

OK I installed Streetfinder 2000. When I booted up my mouse went krazy. So I go to C/winNT/system and delete "mouse.dvr" and about 3 sec later it reapears right in front of me. so I disable th serial mouse and now it won't find any signals. If I boot with it unplugged and plug it in after boot it works fine. Also, streetfinder keeps asking me for the eastern usa map CD, I don't think it came with one. I bought the unit a couple of year ago so I guess I could of misplaced it, but the antenna and install cd were the only things in the box. YES I searched...thats why I tried unplugging, deleteing driver...ect.

    Any Ideas?

    Post crazy mousie!

I use a serial / ps2 gps program called "door to door co pilot."

I have to remove the serial connection before I boot my system or the mouse goes crazy after windows loads. I think I'm going to wire up a disconnect box with a switch to turn off the connection while booting.

Are you using Windows XP or Windows 2000? They both have Windows File Protection which means that the system will restore any files that are listed in it's database. I forget where it is in 2000 but if you turn off file protection in XP and then delete the file from the driver cache folder in system 32...I think. re-boot and the mouse driver file should not come back. Uh...there may be an xml file in there somewhere also. Technet will tell you exactly what to do or www.jsiinc.com. I hope this helps

Thanks Peter, I found my map CDs they must have got mixed up with my music CDs last time I moved(about 2yrs ago). I am using 2000, but I also have 95,98 and XP pro,I am thinking of useing some sort of "lite" version of 98, 2000, or XP. I will have to say Street Finder sucks for car, there is no automated routeing, or voise prompts. I havent had it in my car yet, but I set the reciver out of my window and it lock fair quickly. I will have to check that link.

    Thanks again

Just disable the serial mouse that is not your real mouse and it will stop freaking out...common problem.
