Most of our carputer OS are built on Win/Linux/Mac/etc. I have no access in any of those expensive systems mentioned, they mostly have their own OS so I don't know if it will work for a carputer idea. To make it simple, anything that understand NMEA should work, I use GPSS to decode NMEA signals so any GPS unit that output NMEA works in my carputer setup. This is interesting though, I may have to look into it. BTW, I bought a UBD Digital Street Mapping CD just to use the map (it also has an access to Whereis Online), upon testing I found out that its longtitude and latitude is offset by several meters so I could'nt use it.
