My car PC: The Lost Cause!
the lilliput is powered over car (12v zigarret... donīt know how it called in english) and the gps is over usb at my laptop (laptop is at the moment only used with rechargeable battery).
other fakt:
when i turn the video-out at the display (the lilliput has 3 video outīs: 2 over an usb port an 1 over vga port) to video 1 ore 2 and not to vga, the gps signal is allready there.... i thing this is very mistery... :-(
you mentioned you're using a laptop? i remember at my place of work that we've had a number of models of laptops come through that had a maximum of 500mA available for use to all USB ports.
I'm thinking you have a similar restriction and are pushing the limit of power consumption. Turning on the lilliput may be pushing you over the top. Although I don't know how as the only thing that uses USB is the touchsreen and that's always on yes?

"it's been agreed the whole world stinks so no one's taking showers anymore"
This idea i had too.
I had cable up the lilliput (vga and usb) and connect only the gps over usb to the laptop, but when i turn on the lilliput the gps lose already the signal...
Itīs like magic :-)
When the gps is out off the car (holding out of the window) the signal come back.
There must something with the frequenzes or something else...
the problem is past ;-)
i turn the refreshrate down to 60Hz and now the gps works fin !
really interesting....
