After using DeLorme Earthmate for about a month, I was sick of being 20 ft off the road on SA 2004 and missing every turn...furthermore the GPS track while driving never gave me correct turn information, for example...if I was on like Main St. it and I entered directions home it would say take a left on I-75 ramp but would not tell me how to get to the I-75 Ramp...that is ridiculous....and if you miss a turn it did not automatically reacalc the route...these are features i feel any useful GPS software would have...
anyway I have thrown that system out and I ordered a Deluo USB Reciever and Routis 2004 supposed to be much better from what the sales person told me and what ppl state on this board, I will post my experience with them once it arrives.
Stay away from teh Earthmate USB GPS system, not worth it. my $.02
exactly, can the sh1t software and go for routis. I use it and love it. Works like a charm.
I am getting rid of my earthmate too! only reason being is that mine is an older serial only one and i need a gps one becuase my autotap takes up my serial port.. i just bought a delou gps setup.. should be here anyday now.
back to teh topic.. i never had a problem with my earthmate.. the street atlas software kinda sucked but its OLD.. lol
I actually just purchased Routis and the Deluo GPS, after reading all the praise I have seen on this and other boards. Installed with no problem and locked on to satellites in 2 seconds first time around. However, I have found that it does not suit my needs.
Although it is fairly easy to use and I am going to use it until I find an alternative, there is no way to input multiple addresses other than one "stopover" and a destination.
I am a residential appraiser who visits up to 20+ addresses in a day in not-so-familiar neighborhoods and would like to be able to enter multiple routes with multiple addresses.
I asked Deluo if Routis does this and they said no. I should have asked before I purchased the software, but I couldn't believe that a GPS software wouldn't do this. I fugured most people have muliple addresses that they may have to visit.
What I want to do is either download a text file to a USB Memory Storage Devise and Bring it down to my CarPC, or drag and drop to the shared folder from my garage, so I can do most of my work at my desktop and virtually no typing in the car and then import it into the mapping software.
Does anyone know of a mapping program that is likely compatible with a Deluo GPS and has voice guidance? A program that they use and like that has an import feature for multiple addresses? Even if I can simply change a data file and replace every time, that would be cool...
Thanks.....

GOt Deluo today and installed it perfectly....now a new problem, I have a lilliput and the resolution is 800x600 and that is the lowest it goes (using Epia-M 1000 onboard video card). The map buttons are too small...is there a way to magnify the map?
What is everyone else using with routis 2004 or handling this problem?
I cant seem to get my USB Earthmate to work with Mappoint. I installed the usb to serial drivers. Its using com 3, which i have set in MapPoint. I have also set the baud rate down to 4800, but it doesnt seem to help. Any suggestions? Thanks.Originally Posted by wi77iam

Please see my post above.
I change my mind. Even with the limited functionality. I am having great results with Routis and recommend it highly.
