Good news it this USB GPS works with GPSGate for hibernate, I am so pleased that I have bought a copy of it![]()
Taytay:
The GPS receiver that you've shown from eBay is actually the TN-202 from Rayming (www.rayming.com). I have one & it's quite good & durable for in/out car placement (weather resistant), unlike others which can only be used inside the car (ie. the yellow bulky model from Delorme) ....

Glad to hear you've had such good luck with it! Does its driver have a serial port emulator (so that I can play with it in Hyperterminal and such)?Originally Posted by stevieg
Certainly seems like a good deal on ebay!

Hey Curiosity,
Any update on hibernate issue? Your program works unbelieveably. I would really like to hibernate I save like 35 seconds on start-up. I tried comfoolery and it froze my computer. I was about to buy a physical splitter for $25 and then I read this tread again and I saw your program, awesome.![]()

Nope. No hibernate yet. I hope to get some time away from work soon, or I'll go nuts. There's always GPSGate though, which does it all right now and they probably put more than an evening's work into it.![]()
I tried GPSGate and you program hides away better and is smaller. I will live without hibernate until a new XPort version is made if ever. And if I get tired of waiting I will use GPSGate, but for now I'm way too happy with XPort.Originally Posted by Curiosity

Xport WAS working great...and now it just keeps talking about the ports being in use, when they are not. Tried installs and uninstall, but no luck.
Moved to GPSGate with no problems. Still on the 15 day trial though, but seems like the other programs I use GPS on (Netstumbler, Compass, Mappoint 2004) all the same time are fine.

XPort gives you that "Error starting XPort driver. Make sure you're not using the selected port." box for any number of reasons. Like if you delete XPort.sys or move it somewhere that XPort.exe can't find it anymore. Really you should only need to install it once and forget about it, unless you want to uninstall it to hibernate or something.
