NO way you'll acomplish anything by leaving the signal on in the garage. You have to have a clear view of the sky for the gps signal to lock on. Even when it's rainy and cloudy, sometimes the signal gets weak. The best thing to do is to be stationary (don't move the car) until the gps locks. I have copilot and a rand mcnally gps reciever and I lock usually in less than 30 secs, but when i start driving before it locks, it usually takes a while longer.
