I have the USB Earthmate. I do not have it mounted permanently. I do use it in the back window when the laptop has to be in the back seat (passenger in the passenger seat, imagine that). Works fine. I DO have the rear window defroster.

I know I've read about the coating on windshields causing problems for GPS mice, but what about the rear window defroster? Just with the lines going across the back.
Does anybody have their mouse mounted in the back window and working fine? I don't think mounting the mouse in the windshield will be a problem, but I'm exploring all options.

i have my gps mouse mounted with velcro in front of the dashboard in the middle far front close to (almost touching) the windscreen. i did it that way 'cause the more sattelite it sense, the greater the accuracy, and since it's inside the car, protects it from weather as well. never had any problem with the coating of the windshield.Originally Posted by carpcnoobie

My Earthmate is underneath the rear window shelf material (some kind of plastic) and I have defroster and antenna wires in the rear window. It works fine.

I have mine on the rear parcelshelf no probs at all, used to have a HI-202E but have now got a different one of EBAY as the other stopped working for some reason.
No problem with mine on the rear deck. Serial Rand McNally under a window with non-metalic tint and antenna in glass.
