I thought you had to donate $10 to gpspassion.com to ge the 10% discount.

) Access to special Club Member discounts:

    A donation of:
    - $10 - one (1) discount of your choice (or 10 euros if you're located in Europe)
    - $15 - Two (2) discounts of your choice (or 15 euros if you're located in Europe)

But on the good news side MikeH was asking about an SDK for iguidance over on the message boards and according to the iNav rep:

    It's being developed.
So the future looks good for having a customizable GPS program to integrate into all of the great frontends people have put together.

Yes you do but, you can get around it by just calling up and placing the order with semsons over the phone. Just tell them you are a gpspassion.com member and they will apply the discount. Make sure to be registered in the gpspassion.com forums prior to placing the order.

I did this once and they gladly applied the 10% discount.

    Thanks for the heads up!!!

Is there a typical licensing setup for applications developed from an SDK? Say I buy I-Guidance 2.0 and someone from MP3car.com writes a customized version. By owning I-Guidance does that mean I can also run the program written based on it's SDK? Educate me!

Also hardware you can return if you don't like it. With rampant copying going on, you can't blame a company for not accepting returned software... so unfortunately trying out without committment is pretty much gone.

Really do not know on that one. The licencing agreement would have details on that.

Why not just get Routis 2004 SDK version like IGudiance did?

Anyhoo, if the software was sold through one of my work vendors (CDW, PC Connections, Insight) i would of offered to do a group buy since I get a major discounted rate. but they don't sell it, so no group buy

Lol...for trials...what they should do is having a sale rep (or what ever you want to call them) come to you with the software installed on a laptop with a GPS mouse and drive with you in your car. That way you'll get the feel of the software. ^^V

I think that the software is actually written by these guys:

    http://www.intellinav.com/

And then it's rebadged as Routis, IGuidance and PrymeNav.

im all for supporting the devs. i know it is hard work to program these softwares but all the stores where i can buy the software doesnt allow returns if im not satisfied with it. they always have a no return policy on software.

i think im not gonna buy any gps software until i actually get to try it out on my computer in the car.

when i was trying out players for my carputer i thought frodoplayer wasa great interface. i had it all setup the way i wanted it and i was waiting for my touchscreen to come in to install in my car. however after installing everything and going for a test drive i found that FP wasnt great for dirivng and my tatses so i switched to mediaengine which i like a lot better. what you think might be good is not always so until you try it out.

    Buying locally.

I found 2 places that have iGuidance around me. One in NY and one in NJ. Im waiting till they open to call and find out if they have it in stock.

As for the ethics about software, I did'ent bother to lookup any financial records but it seems to me, that from searching thru all the sites looking for local places to buy it, that this company is doing very well for themselves. They do seem to have a very fair upgrade price. I believe that the people who should pay to use this kind of software are the companys that can afford to waste (not waste as in the program sucks) the money on it.
