I've got Routis 2004. It tells you when to turn, and it speaks, and it has been as accurate as I could want.

I have a BU-303 USB GPS. They are sold under three different brand names.

If you get on CdRsKuLL's direct connect server you may find some "demo" GPS software.

I used Rnad Mcnally (back in 2000-2001) then I went to copilot 2002, then to copilot 2003, and now Copilot live. However I did pick up a copy of iguidence which I haven't been able to get to work with my Rand Mcnally Receiver yet...

    Copilot does kick ***!

There's a constant flame war on software - it's a personal preference thing. I've got a Holux GM210 USB receiver, and it's been excellent. As far as hardware goes, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Any GPS unit should do the job. I don't recommend GPS mouses as I have heard different complaints concerning reception, etc. I myself use a CF GPS receiver, the BC-307, they are shipped from Hong Kong (most of them). I usually get a lock on 10 sattelites (out of 12), they also give you an external antenna and a PCMCIA adapter. Of course, if you don't have PCMCIA then your only other option is to use some USB receiver thing. I recommend the one that has an external antenna - those really work wonders.
