Just found this fourm, but I am looking into designing a GPS system into my video system that I already have, currently a 6" screen attached to a PS2, but I am looking at building a computer for the trunk running a GPS system with a touchpad mouse and keyboard that runs into the front (for now until I get a touch screen in place) but I was wondering a few things one, what is the best GPS receiver for my needs looking for faily cheap also, and what is the best software. All the answers you seek are here my friend, but to help you on your way, Yes a DC DC power supply is far better than An inverter as most will tell you, OPUS Solutions do some great DCDC psu's So does Carnetix, and Maestro, as for gps reciever Try Ebay there cheap and work well many people have posted here about GPS Recievers they have found on ebay!
