with GPS?
it's a sony vaio PIII 600. I'm thinking, for now, I'll just run it in my truck while it's plugged into the cigarette lighter.
Does GPS "satellite" service cost a monthly fee, like internet service?
Do I just buy some kind of wireless gps card and plug it into the laptop?

Get yourself a GPS receiver,

(check you have a USB port before odering the USB one)
Then get yourself some navigational software. eg.
Microsoft Autoroute
Follow the on screen instructions etc.
No monthly fee required, satellites are provided free by the US government, hurray for them.
