    gps and reciver

I am trying to purchase Delorme Street Atlas 2005 and i need a reciver for it and i am looking to buy one off of ebay. But on teh delorme website it says this "Q: Will my GPS receiver work with Street Atlas USA 2004?
A: Street Atlas USA 2005 can track any NMEA 0183 v 2.0 compatible GPS receiver. Street Atlas USA 2005 also allows you to transfer tracks, waypoints, and routes to and from most Garmin and Magellan GPS models."

well the reciver im looking at is this
    reciver

and it says in red "This item does not include mapping software. Customer needs to find the GIS mapping supports GPS functions in standard NMEA 0183 V2.2 to install in their Laptop or PDA then connecting the GPS Receiver for navigation."

so will this reciver work with street atlas since the reciver is v2.2?

    thanks chris

This receiver appears to be only for the PDA, you realize that? The USB cable it talks about it for sync'ing the PDA to a PC, not for connecting the GPS.

Deluo are doing a GPS with Streets and Trips for $85, or with Routis for about $160. I have no affiliation with them, just a satisfied customer. I have a Deluo GPS with the IPAQ and PC connectors and switch it back and forth between them all of the time.

If you are going to buy from Ebay I recommend the BUB-303. Seems to be the cheapest and is highly recommended by most users of it.
AMD XP 2600+/512MB RAM/120GB hard drive
    Opus 150W/DVD/GPS/7" Lilliput TS/802.11g/Bluetooth
    Installed.

    -GPSSecure- - GPS Tracking
    -AltTabber2.2.2- - Handy touchscreen utility.

It has this picture on that eBay page you attached. Seems like that cable allows direct connection to the PC's USB port and be powered by it. If that's the case then it should work. It does have NMEA 0183 protocol.

Make sure though. Ask the seller questions on the cable. Don't purchase until you get answer(s) that you could use as an ammo should the item not turn out to be as promised. Too many horror stories on eBay, although I'm an addict of eBay.

If you look at the last picture it says that the USB is to provide power and sync from the PC, or in other words act as a regular PocketPC sync cable. I don't think this will allow you to use the GPS. If your aim is to use this with the PC ask the seller very specifically if it will work, maybe they have another model or cable that will do what you want.
