    Thumbs up Japanese Sat-Nav

    Hi to everyone.
First of all,it is my first time on this site, and find it very interesting.(idont even know if im in the right forum).
I have Sat-Nav fitted to an imported vehicle(Mitsubishi Challenger).
My problem is it will only read in Japanese.
Is it possable to convert it to read English.
I have been to one or two dealer's but dont seem to bothered, other than trying to sell me a conplete new system.
I have three Japanese discs that came with the system and it works perfectly well although in Japanese.
If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

The system mentioned is a Mitsubishi vics conpatable.
    Double map screen.
    Screen model. DU-5660M.
    Unit model. CU 5600.
Once again many thanks for any help Derek Johnson.

I'm afraid you'll have more luck at a mitsubishi forum, but then again there may be someone here who knows.

I would assume that you would need the discs for your region, not the ones for japan. Having those discs might solve the problem.

    LOL, that's an idea!

    I am a little confused.
Is this a US nav disc in Japanese?

Found this . I would also think that you would need a US cd, from the way it sounds.

    Wizard PC.
    Thanks for your promt reply.
Have already tried a u.k disc in the system will not read the disc.
Have been in touch with Mitsushi electronics, wanted to sell me a new sat-nav.
Whot im trying to find is if someone out there can upgrade it to read a U.K disc.
To me it seems quite a good system and would like to try and solve the this problem.

    Ruyandwings.

I dont know whot disc it is,other than they show a conplete area of Japan, with other areas, such as forrests, hostpitals, petrol stations, etc.
    Thanks again Derek Johnson.

It's like with the Toyota/Lexus Nav system, I can't buy a unit from the US or UK, bring it down here, put an Australian Map DVD in and get it to work.

Ive been reading a lot of other forums on this and no one has come to an answer. I would think that cd's are cheap and the nav units are not. Reason all cd's wont work in all nav units. Just a guess.

you live in Japan? Ditch all the GPS software/hardware and go with the Sony one. I won't even bother telling you which one as it's be disguss till it's dead here. But many believe it's the coolest GPS ever.
