you can also drag out your desktop CRT to your driveway with an orange extension coord, we probbably all have seven or forty extra CRT's lying around by now....
I said the same thing. I got over this problem but installing iGuidance on my desktop and using the resource hacker inside on the bigger screen. Then I just saved the THEME.INI and iGuiadance.EXE files to disk and replaced the same files on the car computer. Just make sure you test it out perfectly on the desktop to make sure you didn't accidentaly code in a bug with the hacker program.Originally Posted by Sonicxtacy02
But making a new EXE file and simply copyiing it onto the car computer works fine.

uhg,
can you guys just upload the Theme.ini file and attatch a screenshot(or tell) for the changes. I'm specifically looking for bigger zoom buttons and bigger menu/POI navigation.
It'd be a real hassel to edit it all in-car...or drag the monitor out there...
So if anyones already done it,
help a brother out

Put the iguidance EXE file on your desktop....edit it there. Put it back on your car computer. Posting the .exe file here is a copyright violation that the modorators aren't going to stand for I'm sure.Originally Posted by cadence117
not sure about that, there has been a couple of us including myself that posted a "unfinished" EXE file in this threadOriginally Posted by Skipjacks
this is a very time consuming project, like i said before maybe we can all do a little and ADD them all together to get a completed EXE file
...can we just PM them around?

Can you PM a file of any kind here? I never even thought to try. I always used email.Originally Posted by cadence117
Email is a wonderful thing. You can send all sorts of goodies and no one will know if they don't bother to check.
If anyone's got a BMW I've got a fun alternate theme that makes the buttons bigger and pointer more visable (turns the arrow into a BMW logo). Still needs some work though.
Back to the topic at hand, anyone know how to make the icons bigger?
I increased the size of the road names and now I can't read the route and interstate numbers because they don't fit on the little icons. Plus the tiny little ATM and resturaunt icons are just insanely too small to be of any real use.
aaaaaaaaaaaaabsolutely!Originally Posted by Skipjacks
check out the directions in the first oh, 9 pages or so, really just pages 7 to 9. For example, I provided the link to the bitmaps you can download and exchange yourself to improve the program. To make the icons bigger, now that youve had the practice in exchanging bitmaps, all you have to do is make the bitmaps yourself! I used Microsoft paint to do the icons, and it works wonderfully well! you can do them by scratch, or just enlarge the existing ones, though they tend ot be pixellated (youve seen that in the previous pages, page 6 or 8, around there.)
noone has told me if routis is identical to iguidance yet, so this is true for routis, but to make the job EVEN EASIER for you, here are the following bitmap numbers for the icons:
destination: 126, 127, 140, 141, 208-215
and now icon numbers for the icons:
interstate: 1, 2
state hwy: 5, 6
bank: 7, 8
gas station: 9, 10
parking lot: 11, 12
airport: 13, 14
camera icon: 15, 16
lodging: 17, 18
restoraunt: 19, 20
hospital?: 21, 22
shopping: 23, 24
once youve increased the size, say double or triple the size, simply follow the easy to accomplish directions we've already outlined!
Here's the specific problem I'm having...
I replace the icons with bigger icons, and that makes everything peachy at the ultra zoomed in level. But when you zoom out the interstate / route no / state route background icons shrink too. So you still can't fit the road numbers on the background
In the resource hacker icons are listed from 1 to whatever
No.'s 1 and 2 are the big and little versions of the red white and blue interstate symbol. Odd thing is when you replace one of the icons, it automatically deletes the other one and doesn't let you add it back in.
As for the POI icons I can replace them with anything I want, but they still come up tiny, no matter how big the replacement icon is. What am I doing wrong?
By the way the interstate and state route icons stay unltra tiny (same size as the POI icons) until I zoom into 200ft and 100ft. Then they get to be the size of the original icon, really big. But the POI icons stay tiny right down to 100ft zoom in.
I'm so confused.
Man this is awesome. I've been playing with the resource hacker for a while now..
Anyone ever have the problem of saving the new exe and it not saving correctly? Like when you look in explorer it isn't the Iguidance Icon? Then when you try to open it you get an application error?
I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing that is getting that. I only make a few changes at a time and even if I undo the changes that I made when I get that it still doesn't save correctly..
