Updated with draggable version w/o borders. The server I host everything on is down... so I had to upload it to mp3car.

0l33l - great work! At this point I would likely rather recommend your creation, gZoom, to users of iGuidance, than the expensive Magnifier. Yours may be a bit more difficult to configure, but that needs to be done only once, and even that may be overcome by creating a list of common settings people can choose from based on their screen size & resolution, etc.

A couple of questions, if I may:

    1. I was hoping that by setting zoom.ini properties to Read-only, gZoom would remember its position on the screen (just in case I accidentally move it a bit by my mouse). But when I set the *.ini to Read-only I keep receiving “Unable to write” warnings. Is there a way to lock gZoom to a desired location? (This is likely not easy.)

    2. Would it at all be possible to eliminate gZoom from Windows Task Bar? (I don’t see Magnifier in the Task Bar.) But if this is at all impractical or difficult to implement, then don't worry about it a single bit. It's just fine the way it is.

hey marvin or l33l0, can you think of a way to open and close this program with a hotkey? getting to open is alot easier than getting it to close lol. Anyway to do this thru girder?

Yes, I think a lot of similar applications could create a keyboard shortcut for you. I created one hotkey for you, if you want to try it. This hotkey not just turns On/Off gZoom by 0l33l, it also brings iGuidance to focus after gZoom starts, so you can control iGuidance with your keyboard to e.g. change zoom level, etc. It works fine when you run iGuidance without any front end, but I have no idea how it will behave if you use a front end, because I don’t use any.

    Download: gZoomHotKey.exe

There is no installation necessary. Just download (right-click & select Save...)the small file to any location on your computer, e.g. Desktop, and run it. I set F12 key to be the hotkey, but if you wish a different key for that function, let me know.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that for the hotkey to work gZoom has to be placed in the Program Files folder, and the Zoom1 folder should be renamed to gZoom.

    Program Files\gZoom

thanks for that. I found a better way to manage it thru my front end and an app written specifically to close the gzoom.

    sure...

My front end is RR with the ZOTS skin.

using the road runner skin editor i changed the "zoom in" button to execute the zoom program. then i changed the "zoom out" button to execute the program that member blue zx3 created specifically to close the zoom program. Close Zoom. I changed the buttons to read "Zoom On" and "Zoom Off" to reflect the different use. Might not be the best solution for everyone but its the best for me.

In order to use that close zoom program you must have AutoIt installed. you then right click the .au3 file and hit compile. It changes it to an .exe

    Marvin,

You said the this tool also brings iGuidanceto focus. It does not work for me. all it does is open up the gZoom tool. Anyway you can have it load iGuidance with the gZoom?

Yes, I can do that, too, if that's what you want. I originally did the hotkey just for the one function because that's what Sonicxtacy02 asked for. It was designed to start only gZoom, but it would also bring iGuidance to focus right after gZoom starts (provided iGuidance was running already).

Cheekz185 - now try to download the hotkey file again from the same link above. Try it if it does what you need.
