How do put the Rikaline 6010 outside?

So i got my Rikaline last night.. I bought it because i heard that it was weatherproof..

Its the Unit (magnetized), a few inches of usb cable, then another plastic box (smaller), then the usb cable.

    1. Can that plastic box thing go outside?
    2. How do i actually run the cable so i can put this on the roof? or front hood? or somewhere? It seems like the adapters on the cable preclude anything really creative (except for the hood)..

Should i just put this thing on my dash? (it's a scion xb, and there was some reports of reception problems)..

I drilled a hole in my roof the size of the wire. Then I desoldered the wire from the little in-line box, fed the wire through the roof and resoldered.

I don't have your particular GPS receiver but I have the Routis equiv.

If you are feeding it to the PC using a USB port I would place the magnetic piece on the trunk of the car and if the USB cable isn't long enough to get back to the PC buy a USB extension cable.

If you have a serial GPS receiver I would convert it to USB if you need to extend it.
