    Got my Holux 210 and....

my impressions are as follows: I like the fact that it is already water proof which means I don't have to mess around with any stupid sealant or anything. I'm not sure I'm digging the green LED on top of the unit, also I wish they made an all black unit.

On to the performance part, well I hooked it up without installing any of the drivers and to my surprise Routis picked it up and started working...however...where I placed the GPS in my back window, I wasn't able to lock unto any satelites, thus GPS not worky.

Well on my next boot up the computer and Routis both still see the GPS but this time it begins to work and track the car...(doing way better than the BU 303 it replaced already!!)

Well this morning...nothing...Routis did not recognize the unit at all so I installed the correct driver and rebooted the computer and since then everything is working well.

I am happy with the unit and even more so over mostly because it works in the car even with a tinted rear window

Hmm thats good to hear you like the Holux. I was thinking of going with the same thing but wasnt sure of the quality. So it picks up the signal ok on the inside of the window? I wanted a cost effective GPS unit and now thanks to your post I will probably be going with the Holux.

    well,

I've got more insight...since my intial post. I've been having some problems with Routis finding the reciever. I need to make sure that I installed it correctly or I may need to re-install Routis...hope not but who knows...also I moved it back outside the car as it seems as if it gets tempermental as to when/whether to pick up signals or not

I agree it is an excellent reciever. However it is not as waterproof as i had first thought. After having my truck washed at a truck stop I began having usb device recognition problems. Opened it up and found water and some rust likely from previous moisture. Dried it and it worked again, but i'm a little more careful about its "waterproofness" now.

    GM-210 rocks...

I use the GM-210 (usb version) and it rocks. The unit that I have is the Black and Grey one. Mine is attached to my trunk (since it has a built in magnetic baseplate). You might get better satellite reception if you put it outside the car.

I'm actually got the same unit and have it outside the car as well. I think I may need to just reinstall the drivers and see. I'm still having the sporadic recognition, and it could be due to having both the drivers for the BU 303 as well as the GM-210 on there. Time to clean it up...just haven't had the time.

I have this unit also... so is it waterproof or not??

I was gonna get some Plasti-dip (I think that was the name)...

I don't believe that anything is completely waterproof, I would use the Plasti-dip as a pre-caution

    It's waterproof.

I've had mine for quite some time and I haven't had any problems. Physically, it might not "seem" like it's sealed, but it is. It's a great unit.

    Kind regards,

I've got a Holux GM-210 USB and it worked great sat on my dash in the summer, but now the cloudy skys and rainy days have arrived theres no way I can pick up a single sat with it on my dash and it only works if stick to my roof.
Wierdly the diagnostic software that came with the receiver seems to spurt out loads of information even with the unit on my dash on a cloudy day, just destinator wont find any sats?.
Does anyone know of any more options I may have on bad weather days, rather than having a cable trailing out of my window?
    Cheers
