Which skin are you referring to as awkward? Never heard that before
I'm sure the guys who developed iGuidance had their very own graphics design team, I'm a coder - not an artist!![]()
I have both of them, here's what i an input.
Igudance 2:
Pro: Nicer GUI, 3D map showa street names.
Con: Non really. Maybe ther could be more POI's
Destinator 3( Ninja monkey edition)
Pro: Highly categorised POI, i realy love it. I think it's more accuratre than iguidance, maybe it depends on the rikaline 6010 though. I used Iguidance with delorme Earthmate.
Con: It has a somewhat akward looking GUI. No offence NM, but the graphics in Igudance are better.
So there you go. If you want a "nice" software that looks really clost to stock, get iguidance. If you want more functionality, go with sdestinator.

thanks BND! So now I am left with a few thinigs to pick between...do I want something that's more accurate and no so easy to use? (so it might not be as accurate in the end) or do I want something that's easier to use and not as accurate...lol

I prefer the Ninja D3/CDRSkull skin combination over Iguidance for handling touchscreen input-I think Iguidance buttons are too small. I've read you can change the size/apperance of Iguidance buttons using resouce hacker, but haven't tried it myself. Destinator 3 map info is newer (Quarter 1, 2004) verses Iguidance (Quarter 3, 2003). The voice navigation in Iguidance is a little more thorough-it will tell you which side of the street your final destination is on and gives you a little more detail when navigating freeway entrances/exits. I don't think that you can go wrong with either-but if you do go with Destinator you have Ninja Monkey who is actively developing his program specifically for in car use-Thanks Ninja!Originally Posted by Ninja Monkey

Yeah, I'm trying to design the D3 Frontend specifically for in-car use...why don't you try it out before buying the maps? It's free!
It's in a constant state of development so i'm always looking to add new features and integrate with other applications wherever necessary. Fun stuff![]()

WOW... where???
All I can find is a trial version that costs 14.95
I think he's talking about the D3 front end, not necessaryially the D3 software package....
however, I did see another thread on here where someone was hosting the European maps for d3 for download for anyone on here....I believe it was in this forum....or was it in the software forum....

Yeah, I have been reading many of the posts here about GPS software, cause I need to buy one.... MS Streets and Trips (2001) just doesn't cut it.... I have seen that the concensus is iGuidence and Desinator3 are pretty close in "best"... each having there own advantages....
Now what confuses me is what is Ninja Monkee's software???
I get the impression it is a control method for D3 and requires a full version of D3, right?
What does it add? I havn't seen a single screen shot of it, which seems strange..... Am I just not looking hard enough???
Any thoughts would be most appreciated....
As far as I can tell D3 was only written for a PDA and would therefore not work very well/easily on a pc. Ninja Monkey has written a pc front end so that the up to date data and maps can be used. His frontend is free, you can get free maps, but if you want the most recnet maps and to be legal then you need to buy D3 as well.

I believe NM's frontend comes with a very small portion of some random map in some european country (either that or my geography is just that bad).
It may not be useable for most of us, but still, you'll get an idea of what the frontend looks like it... I think that's what they were referring to as free.
