Earthmate GPS don't work...help please

This should fix it. I only used the front ports, so never installed the driver on the back ports. thats why it's screwing you a bit. just don't give up, and you'll be fine.

BTW how dod the dvd-rw drive migration to your desctop go?

What I found out: the COM port changes if I plug it into a different USB port on my laptop

That's what I ended up figuring out tonight. I ended up unistalling the drivers and reinstalling everything and it all worked perfectly. Now I'm happy!

Thanks for the tips, guys. The USB-Serial thing really helped.

The reason the COM port changes when you plug it into a different USB port is so you can have several of them and one never steals the other one. Like plug one into USB port 1, then set some app to it, then remove it and plug another into USB port 2 and set that up, and then plug #1 back in and it's back to its old COM port instead of having to find a new one and then you have to figure out where it went to.
