Im new to GPS. Infact I havent even installed one in mine. But the other day i was in a G35, where I saw the coolest thing ever. The colors of the map inverts depending on daylight conditions. The car entered a tunnel, and the map instantly flipped colors.
Has anyone done this ? I was thinking maybe a small photocell module connected through the serial port ? Then again the program itself would have to recognise this.
Before someone bashes my head in -> I search the forum a little, but I didnt know exactly what keywords to search for. Nothing turned up.![]()

Maybe when the headlights were turned on?Originally Posted by anik321
^^Thats probably it. The G35 has Auto headlights like I do in my Altima, and if I enter a tunnel it turns them on, when you exit it will turn them off.
This brings up an interesting idea for Frontends in general: Is there a way to connect to the headlights to automatically go from Day/Night mode?

It's not nice to pick on retards!
nRoute from Garmin inverts colors automatically in the evening.
It's easy enough, as long as the nav proggy supports it and there is an SDK. I don't know of any front-ends that include it though!Originally Posted by edrex
The circuit here can do what you want. You'd still need to get a front-end to support it. FP currently uses time of day to trigger day/night skins but it's probably not a huge deal for the monkey to add support for the hardware trigger. Simply serial input circuitOriginally Posted by edrex
