Off topic, but can anyone in NZ ship me a case of Scrumpy??
I would like to ask if there is anyone else in NZ that uses this site. I feel as though im the only one who uses mp3car.com in nz, if not and I am wrong then does anyone in NZ have the Road maps yet? Are there any maps for NZ?
If so then let me know
Cheers.

Hi guys, I'm doing CarPC stuff here in Tauranga, hopefully soon to lead to some commercial products..
At present I also don't have a screen, although I do pass the GPS data from the PC to my iPaq and use OziExplorer for a moving map. I also use the iPaq to control Winamp using some software I have written.
Checkout the NZ recreational GPS Society at http://www.gps.org.nz/ for information about GPS related topics in NZ.
@ac57846 hey fellow taurangaoin! In tga when not studying in cch.
Whats ur setup?
To help my fellow neighbour :P
I've searched and only found Magellan maps which could be used with the pc magellan gps software for routing but they cost $320 NZ
I did find some nice Topo maps fr you guys at http://www.linz.govt.nz/rcs/linz/pub...maps/index.jsp
you could use these with Ozi explorer
If you can find any info about making Maps for a certain GPS software I'd be happy to spend the time working on it as long as u guys test it![]()

As NiN^_^NiN says there are some good small scale maps available from LINZ, Gazza over at http://www.wherearewe.co.nz/maps.html has even created the Ozi .map files for them, I use these for small scale maps.
The NMS260 index maps have been converted to Ozi and calibrated, however these aren't terribly useful as they are intended to tell you which map to use for a particular area.
I'm still looking for good, cheap, large scale maps, preferably of urban areas, to use with Ozi.
I'd also love to know whether the Navman software only package that DSE sell would work with another GPS and PocketPC (other than their PIN)
Navman has specific changed made to the OS so you can't use it on a pocket PC that I know of ???
Also you might be in luck with using the garmin NZ maps with the garmin PC software
Problem is u need a garmin GPS unit otherwise the software hides the street names.
Just a thought?

I might have found something
There is software called RoadNav which uses vector maps from the free USA website.
RoadNav is a opensource project which works on windows and linux
I'm going to do some research to see what format the maps are in and see if I can map some NZ maps to use with this program
It does route you to a street etc so it's like a basic version od Destinator 3
http://roadnav.sourceforge.net/index.html
There are a few drawbacks like not being able to tell 1 way roads when routing to an address etc.
But that shouldnt be to bad
Also it has a few Features not in D3![]()
I'll see what i can find out and if i can make some maps (I should as it's a standard format)
