Hey guys, the coder that was trying to help us out (See Post #58) has come to the conclusion he won't be able to do it. He'll be sending me what he has decrypted/uncovered thus far so we can use that to move forward with this. Maybe one of you other coders/hackers/reverse engineering coders can work with that and figure some additional bits out I'll post when I have the info.

    Cheers....

Ok guys, here is the info uncovered from the coder we had hired to decode what he could. He wasn't able to get everything he was hoping for, but maybe this info can help out the other folk willing to attack this... I know I have no clue about it... File attached.

    Cheers,

Ill read through his findings and see if I can make sense of it (Iv never used the programming language he's using), in the mean time if someone could send me a POI data file that would be great (if not, its no big deal, i can get one).

I am not making any promises but I will try

You can download it here (I think, though you might have to register for a free account to access it).

Or I'm currently uploading it to one of my servers that I can send you the link to once it's done.

Let me know & thanks for tackling this. Cheers

The file is 26MBs, so I'll have to wait till tonight to upload it from the house, since ftp is blocked here at the office.

    Cheers

It might help if you install a smaller collection of maps. My POI file is only 4 megs for Texas only. I will take a look at the data too.

Ah true. Do you think you could email P3D4T0R your file? I still haven't had the chance to email/upload my file and won't be able to rebuild mine until tomorrow. TIA

Done. Two things I noticed with his data.

Some of the unknowns are probably phone # and address information(although it might resolve the address using lat and long).

It is unlikely the data in the file would be dynamic during the runtime of the program most likely it is built during the install of the software or when you add maps on. My poi.bin file was last modified on my install date. That would also be the reason why my POI file differs in size from webmasters. So probably the POI file we should be trying to edit is the one on the CD. That way we don't have to worry about the dynamic data in the tables. I don't have the CD with me I will look at the files on it later.
