New GPS receiver detcts Speedcams

What do you all think to this new GPS Camera detector. It uses Sirf chipset to detect GPS location and warns of all european fixed camera locations. BUT, you can also have it plugged into a PC and use it as a GPS Receiver.

Its a simple system with no screen but just 3 LED's, but if it works as a high speed GPS receiver as well as a camera detector it looks well worth the money.

...would this make map updates smoother in D3?

And best of all its only £79

I've just read about this in the UK Sunday Telegraph Motoring section, think Im off to buy one now

hmmmm I can't see how they have an update speed of 10Hz! The fastest reciever I have ever seen is 8Hz and that is with the latest firmware.

I have a thread somewhere asking about if the software can take an update speed of more than 1Hz.

I have decided to go with an external antenna system to try and get a decent signal. The athermic windscreen database on their site is useful though.

We are trying to decide if we should go with an 8Hz capable reciever module or the 1Hz system with dead reckoning but so far the DR is winning from looking at city rest results.

Now that would be something, LASER, RADAR, & GPS cam detector and GPS nav at same time!
