Quick question: with Iguidance can you just "rip" the map files off the cd/dvd and put them on your harddrive if you want to have a free cd slot?
Yes, that it how it is designed to work. Actually my mobile pc doesn't even have a CD (or DVD) drive ;-)
If you guys had stickied this or put it in the faq, you might not get as many questions. it certainly helped me, but I had to go through 5 pages to find it.
It IS in the FAQ. Check the "Attention Newbies! A FAQ to the FAQ's" in the FAQ Emporium.
BTW - good job searching and finding it!
Garmin sells a GPS working @ 5hz, so five updates in position per second. Seems it uses a special transfert protocol.
Problem is : I don't know if current softwares can handle it (refresh rate & protocol), and GPSgate & xport may not work with it.
Whoa!! That sounds really interesting! Do you have any more info on it DeltaFX??Quote:

PocketMap Navigator
one quick question...
I'm in the UK.
What software is the best for my region? Can i install Great Britain maps easily?
For whatever reason ive seen a whole lot of GPS units on ebay bundled with Microsoft's Streets and Trips
I strongly suggest NOT using this for everyday navigation issues. Like stated in the write up its great for planning trips but for in car navigation i had a LOT of trouble. Its akward to use and does not give nice GPS information let alone useful on the go directions.
Also it had a lot of trouble finding my GPS unit. I had to use a third party driver and it would still fail somtimes anyway. (maybe its just the holux unit i have...im still looking for better software tho)
Just thought id put my 2 cents in...
