"Hi, I've tried out a demo version of your software and although some parts are good it sucks in general, when will you fix it ?"![]()
As you say, it is good and feature packed, no doubt about that.
But it has flaws, the graphics "engine" is really really bad, whenever you do something with the map you feal lucky if it works as it doesn't most of the time.
It isn't cheap either, over here it's ~$330 and for that I wouldn't have expected all those flaws.
Since I didn't buy it yet I'm mostly disappointed because it looked so good on paper.
If I had bought it I would have been pretty ****ed off by now.
As for resources, it uses up four times as much as FreeDrive.
In time I hope it'll be better, but right now it's just not worth the money.

I agree given a decent SDK, and levels of support - this forum is proven to produce the goods time and time again

Happy now ?![]()
I for one wouldn't buy something for $330 bucks without trying it first, that was the only way to try it.
If it would have met my expectations I'd have bought it, honest, but right now I think the flaws/bugs
are serious enough that I think it's nothing they'll solve over night.
Improve the graphics "engine".
Add skinning to the desktop version and/or make a "real" SDK.
Improve routing.
Then I'll buy it.

i tried version 5. in the car.. i found it quite useless :P maybe intergrated bit better... still stopped using it and started using d3
my destinator map resource down permanently
No comment.... I borrowed one for an artical I am doing compairing all the GPS software out there at the mo... and I still say with its flaws I like Altuion purley on its functionality... its interface is another issue and I for one would like to use it full time but at the same time ( bad grammer there ) help them develp it more for the touch screen enviroment.Originally Posted by Mad Ad
All they have to do is addin US maps and you have got one 'Destinator Killer' bit of software. ( Oh and make the sdk better ).

Maybe I'm overly negative, but it seems as the very few "fan-boys" out there like it only becauseOriginally Posted by ccsnet
of all the gizmos and not based on how user friendly it is or how well it performs.
The PocketGPSWorld "review" is more of an sales advert where they outline all the features
with a big "uhu... gosh... look at all 'em buttons".
No one seem to care that the software takes 30 seconds to load, that the grapics locks up
for 10-20 seconds every now and then and that the routing is very strange, because
look at all 'em buttons.![]()
I'm sorry Alturion and ccsnet if it looks like I'm out to just **** on your parade.
But this software isn't the killer app it's pointed out to be, not even with US maps.
That said... It could be a killer app. With the addition of US maps they'll also have
the pressure from the US customers to improve the software.
Like I sad earlier... performance, interface and sdk... then it'll be a "Destinator Killer"

Thats pretty much where I am coming from... if they do read this and do take up an opertunity to get help from the 'comunity' my email will have suceded. It could be a killer app. With the addition of US maps they'll also have

Since I've been *****ing most of the time I figured I'd praise it a bit when it's deserved.
I tried it in traffic for the first time the other day and I was really surprised how well the voice commands worked.
Immidiatly after you made the turn she said "follow this road for xxx miles, then turn right" so you instantly new wich lane you needed to be in.
Destinator gets quite annoying with it's fixed 3km, 500m, 200m, turn now warnings.
Alturion seemed much more "relaxed" and yet more informative.
