does anyone know how well it operates with electrical interference nearby? Right now my rikaline will not work at all on the carpc due to some sort of interference. it will get a lock if the car and pc are off (running it on my laptop) but loses it as soon as the car and carpc are started. if this one may be better, I'll get one.
System: AMD Duron 1200+ , 512 MB ram , usb sb mp3+ , Tview 7" touchscreen , M1-ATX PSU , Slot Load iMac DVD-Rom , 40 GB laptop HDD, netgear USB 802.11g

What is the refresh rate of you monitor? I had the same problem, lowered refresh to 60Hz and now get 8 stats, but if 72Hz 0 sats.

i have tried different refresh rates and there is no difference. i have had 2 of the rikaline units and both do the same thing. I have tried disconnecting all other devices from thr car pc and stilll no difference. the only thing i havent taken off yet is my amp, i might try that today. i'm getting tired of trying to get it to work and am ready to buy something else if anyone thinks that sirf star III might make a difference.

I have the GPSLIM236 and the reason I bought it was because you could connect it with either bluetooth or usb using the adapter and you can connect an external antenna to it .Originally Posted by Shearer

I got into my car and turned the key. The GR-213 began to flash imediately. By the time My pc booted and I opened iGuidanence (about 20-25 seconds) I had 8/8 sat locked and was raring to go.

what kind of connector is on the 236 for anexternal antenna? does anyone know of other usb gps devices that can do this? is thesignal greatly improved?

exactly what i was looking for. Thanx mate. I ordered the globalsat BR-355 wich according to the pictures is the exact same thing. Thank you again. I'll let you know how that went when i get it.
