I now have mine behind an interior panel that's behind the driver's seat. No view of the sky. The car was in the garage with the door closed and it still could see 7 sats. This thing is awesome!
It's tucked in near the ECU and various relays, so I don't think interference is an issue.

Opus case. MB 899 core duo 2.0ghz
Dual vga out, 400 gb hard drive, Centrefuse front end
zapco 1000.4 for zapco 6.5 componets
zapco 1100.1 for 2 13" W6.
Not sure but I think most screens of this type have a clear area around the rearview mirror for this very purpose.

Perhaps with this: http://franson.com/gpsgate/Originally Posted by nsmoller
I use that for developing GPS applications for work. It's nice, includes not only the ability to use different GPSs with applcation, but splits the GPS to a second port and my favorite, it has a GPS emulator.
at gps gate site, surface level it says that it converts garmin gps units to work with non garmin software, which is good if you have the unit. mine blew up, so i have the 100 dolla software. with talk of these new sirf whatevers i wanted a new gps mouse, but same software (it has lots of advantages, i feel).
dug around his forums a little bit and found that in the next release he will have support for using non garmin gps with garmin software (nroute)...
thanks for the tip
