I use S&T and I'm always right in the middle of the road. If I zoom down, it even shows me being in the correct lane of multi-lane roads. I do have a WAAS-enabled antenna though. That may be the difference.

try the antenna in the middle of your roof
I've also had no problems. Recently finished a 1month trip and S&T was bang on the whole way. I use a pharos gps.
