    GlobalSat BU-353 doesn't detect

    Hey guys...

I just got my gps and i was trying to install it and what not. It said to install the drivers first, and i did. then i plugged in the gps... what was strange is that windows did not say anything about a new device being plugged in. when i tried to use the program that came with the cd it wanted to scan my com port for it, but it never was found. What is strange is that the small red led that is on it does light up when its plugged in, it just blinks... and sometimes it will stay red. any one have this similar problem or could tell me how you went about installing it?

It may be a silly question, but are your USB ports working?

Yes sir, they do... in fact i tried many other computers in my house as well. None of them detect it. I called up the company and they said it must be defective cuz it should have been reconginzed when i plugged it in. So im shipping it back tomorrow ... i wish i was able to fix it cuz i dont want to wait a week now to get it again.. lol this suckksss soo muchh. oh well.

Don't know if you still have it, but did you actually go into device manager to see if it was there? I know with Iguidance, it didn't detect the gps receiver, because it was assigned something like com port 21, and Iguidance only checks ports 1-7. I reassigned the com port, and it worked fine.
