    Globalsat BR-355 Serial GPS Receiver

I have bought one of this but it came with no serial to usb cable. Do I need the adapter or could it be connected to ps2 mouse conector? I have tried this but GPS does not work. Does the gps get the power from the usb port? Thanks

Yea, you can get a USB adapter or a serial (DB9) plus PS/2 adapter

The USB one provides power, the serial one gets power from the PS/2 port.

No, you need that specific cable.
It's not a PS/2, but a similar-style (if not the same) connector. You need the GPS -> Serial adapter and a generic USB > Serial adapter.
If there is one avaailable from the manufacturer, you can use an adapter cable that goes from their round mini-DIN connector to USB.

A standard PS/2-USB for a mouse or keyboard will not work.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Man am I glad I saw this. Why would they say it's PS/2 when it's not PS/2. Dumb.

    Anyway, if I use the quasi-PS/2 to DB9 ( http://www.usglobalsat.com/item.asp?itemid=4 )
    will it power the BR-355?
