bump...with some new information.
I searched the usglobalsat site (they make the bu-353) and found their support forums, one of the thread has a link to sirfdemo. It appears to be a really low level too.
Point it at your com port, do "Action->Open Source", then "Action->Synchronize...", it should settle on 57600 baud.
Before you exit this app, be sure you do "switch to NEMA mode" otherwise your GPS will be stuck in sirf mode.
So, my remaining questions:
- Why use nema vs. sirf?
- Can I use a xport3 or GPS gate with sirf?
- Do the settings in device manager for the prolific usb-serial driver matter? What are the correct settings?
