he only needs to record it and playback later. He doesn't need the real-time tracking, and he would need to have a phone connected for this to work.
Freedrive in this instance is the best option IMO.
I recommend GPSSecure because it runs in the tray, is the easiest to set up, and is homemade here at mp3car.![]()

I think GooPs will do what you want. It plots a track of where your car has been in Google Earth. You can save the tracks in kml or kmz format. Saved tracks can be played back in GE any time.
GPSSecure doesn't only do real time tracking. It does recording and playback too. The real time tracking came after. He doesn't need a phone for it any more than FreeDrive does.Originally Posted by Enforcer

Try FD 0.9b Scott_fx, will do exactly what you want and natively, version 1.0 coming very soon. New menu skins being done and few final changes.
That is correct. An internet connection is only required if you want to track someone remotely. Google Earth will also run w/out an internet connection but you'll need one to load the roads and map detail into its cache.Originally Posted by b8bboi
David, so can I do something like this?Originally Posted by davidhite
Use GooPS to log my route (without Internet connection).
Then when I'm back home with an Internet connection, replay the route in Google Earth so that Google Earth can cache stuff.
Most definitely. In Google Earth Places just click on GooPsServers->Me->Track and then hit the play button on the places pane (looks like a VCR play button). You may have to adjust your range and tour speed (in the google earth driving directions tour options) so it captures the appropriate amount of data to cache.Originally Posted by b8bboi
here's a nice program: http://www.laipac.com/gps_gpsdiag_eng.htm
mainly a software for monitoring nmea output, it can also log nmea data in a .nmea file.
with another software like logconv the .nmea file could be converted into these types of files:
PCX5 (.trk)
GPS eXchange (.gpx)
OziExplorer (.plt)
Google Earth (.kml)
Text (.txt)
CSV
