That's odd, indeed. I have no clue what it is. However, if you do use an extension USB cable for the GPS receiver, try to remove it, at least for testing purposes (even if it worked well with the extension before).
Ok here's my specs:
Atholon 2500+ barton @ 333FSB
Shuttle AN35n-Ultra (capable of 400FSB)
512mb PC2700 GEIL DDR RAM
G-force 440mx 64mb AGP card (4x i think)
120gb Samsung 7200rpm IDE HDD
Opus 150w
Liliput 7"
BU-303 GPS Antenna
All of this is powered by the Opus and i haven't experienced any real "power" problems before, that are noticeable at least.
My problem is: The red LED on the GPS antenna is supposed to blink when it has a good signal, or a "locked" signal i guess? Well, usually when i'm out in the open (in an area that you would expect the antenna to work) it gets a good signal. So the light is blinking while my car is parked and when i'm getting in ... but when i start the car (or even just hit the key to ACC), once the computer boots up it loses it's signal. The LED turns solid and does not get a signal! It isn't really like a certain time after the computer boots up that this does this, but generally, by the time i'd have the computer booted and Frodo up and then try to embed FD0.9 the antenna doesn't have a strong signal. It will do this even if i don't run FD or FP.
I have used the app that came with the software, and i go to it's port (com 3) and hit "start GPS", then "Get Status" ... then i go to the status screen and it trys to get a locked signal forever. It will get like 1 satellite or 2 but never will the LED blink again ...
Does anyone have an idea or have you experienced this problem before? I have tried re-installing the drivers with no help at all. The GPS has worked fine for like 3 months prior to this happening (last month). I can't think of anything that i have changed on the computer or car to do this either.
Thank you

I don't have an extension ... i have the GPS running from it's original length from the computer under the pass. seat along the floor board on the side of the center console and up over top of the dash right underneath the windshield. Kind of ghetto but temporarily it was working ...
I guess i'm going to install the drivers on another computer (my laptop) and see if the antenna works correctly with it ... maybe the antenna is just fugged?
Its probably your lilliput! I know its weird, but i had that issue. Try to turn of your lilliput screen and you will probably see your gps-lock back (blinking gps-module). If you get/keep having lock once its booted then try turn on the screen. It probably will be lost in an instance. If this is the case it has to do with your Hz settings. Try lowering it or place your gps unit somewhere else. You could also use aluminium foil behind the screen or under the gps unit.
You could give it a try.
Thanks for the tip!! Come to think of it i did recently up my Hz ... you're talking about the screens refresh rate under display properties right? I turned mine up to the max that the lili could take cause i had a 19" LCD in the car recently.
I'll go lower it and see what happens ... wow man thanks a bunch!!
Goddy, ur the best! I lowered my res from 75 to 60hz and it worked perfect for my 150 mile trip today! thanks again
You're welcome. Good to know it is solved now!
Yep, my Xenarc interferes with my GPS, too. If I move it, it gets better reception.
