Keep in mind, it's a beta. Not the final release. I'll be trying it out and I'll post if it works.

Beta 2.0 does work with iguidance, I'm using it now. Thanks for the tips.

funny, i currently had this same problem and google'd the issue. Well, the search pointed me to this discussion.

thanks Dylan, GPSGate worked! it programs my Garmin 18USB to have virtual COM ports allowing any navigation application to see it.

There's a free software available from Garmin for this function. I downloaded it yesterday and it worked great. The program is "Spanner" and you can get it from http://www.garmin.com/support/downlo...ls.jsp?id=1627

Or go to www.garmin.com -> Support Update & Downloads and down to GPS 18.

There's no need for GPSGate anymore.

Actually GpsGate has quite a bit going for it. Log recording and playback, NMEA to Garmin, port splitting, and more. Still definitely worth the money, in my opinion. But yes, if you just want the USB Garmin to NMEA, Spanner will do the trick.
