Anyone got TomTom running on a Palm device (not PocketPC)?

Name me something better than tomtom? in terms of functionality. I have seen many fancy graphics/look/features and non work as well as tomtom.

If you can recommend me something better, then Ill hunt it down and try it

I wanted tomtom on my larger screen, without bogging the cpu down with emulation, so I'm currently using dotpocket to bring the ppc screen into a window on my touchscreen pc instead.

It just means the car-pc has to run activesync + dotpocket, and is connected to the ppc via usb (though you could use bluetooth I suppose)

Why use one device when you can use two?

yeah, I've been thinking of this as a final solution. but it's still not for everyone. so failing all else, I'll be doing the same

but with soti pocket controller though as it runs over a wifi connection too.

Here's a report of my progress... or lack of! I've been fighting with the palm simulator* for some time now with no joy as of yet...

*The simulator is not an emulator, it's actually built on the x86 platform and is an implementation written specifically for Windows. This means it should fly when running tomtom.

The problems I'm facing with it are as follows:

1. I can install TomTom manually by placing the .prc files in the virtual storage card, but I can't use the CD as it complains about storage space.

2. When I try to run the manually installed TomTom it crashes.

This suggests to me that the storage is not accessable for writing from the simulator, and therefore running it crashes because tomtom can't write to disk.

3. I can't see how the serial device can be routed to the simulator. With the pocketpc emulator, the serial port is simply mapped. Although this a major pain in the gluteus maximus it's not a compelte show stopper. Once the emulator is running, I'm sure someone with a bit of palm development experience (or I can take the plunge if no one else does) can develope a proxy utility to transport the gps feed over tcp/ip on the host, and then a virtual serial port on the simuilator to receive the gps feed and push to tomtom.

I'll be looking more into the installation problems and will report back when I have some more, if anyone else would like to have a bash, it woul be good to get feedback from others.

I tried Palm T5 Simulator from http://pluggedin.palm.com/, becouse from www.palmos.com simulator have unsufficient Dynamic Heap Size.
But problem is that, when I mount card, starting process, TomTom installed. But when I run it =, it said that NO TOMTOM SD CARD INSERTED error#0.
How to solve that?

By the way, on site mantioned in previos post, rthere is some emulators too (approx. 26 Mb). But I cant install them becouse, installator required some additional tool - PocketPC 5.0 SDk, and it reqiured some additional tools too.

If anyone see or have same problems, tell please how to solve them?
