Rikaline GPS reciever 'forgetting' last position...

Hi

I have been using a Rikaline USB GPS Reciever in my car for about a year now and recently it it does not log on to the satelites right awaywhen I start my car. It takes about 90 seconds until I get 3-4 sats. Is it possible that the little battery in the GPS unit is drained and therefore cannot save the position once the unit looses power from USB (Car turned off

)???

If so, is there a way to swap the battery?

I have a BU-353 and it does something very similar when I hibernate. If I don't do a full reboot every so often, it takes longer and longer for the BU-353 to get a fix.

Try doing a full reboot and see if it helps.

Ok, on my model, the 6051? Something like that. They used a battery in it to save satelite positions. After a while that battery will expire and will make this issue. You can either A, figure out where I read this and do the fix to replace the battery (some GPS website), B live wit it, C Buy a new one!

Thanks a lot for the info and the link below. As I thought the battery seems to be the problem. Glad that you can confirm that. Will see to solder in a replacement once I find some spare time. Might even make a tutorial
