System hangs after standby/hibernate with BU353 connected

When my BU-353 is plugged into the USB port of my Dell 600m laptop and I standby/hibernate, upon resuming the system hangs while the screen is still completely black, or in the case of hibernate, as soon as the "resuming windows" bar is full. It remains like this until I turn off the computer by pressing and holding the power button.

This happens whether or not any GPS software is running on the computer. If I unplug the BU-353 before standby/hibernate, the system resumes normally.

I have xport running but this does not help. How do I fix this?

Is USB boot enabled in the BIOS? If it is, try disabling it.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I tried that, it didn't work. I don't think this is a BIOS problem, I think this is a windows problem, since when hibernating the BIOS loads windows normally, windows just fails to startup.

to revive an old thread, goto prolific's download page and download the latest 2007 driver, the one shipped with the bu-353 and on their website is 2004 version and will give you that problem. the new 2007 driver will ressolve it.
