For those (including me) who are not happy about the compromised ability to automate iG 3.0, we still can try the less reliable method of sending mouse clicks (as opposed to SendKey). Or someone may think of something better. (Or the programmers at Netropa may spare some time to make us happy by releasing a patch soon. Or even better: SDK.)
How hard is it to send a mouse click in VB? And can you somehow temporarily disable further mouse input until the virtual click is completed? Should work, though it seems like you'd have to spend a lot of time physically mapping the screen, locating all the buttons, rather than just doing "sendkey("A"):....dammit, why'd you have to take away keyboard input?!Originally Posted by Marvin Hlavac

Currently: Enjoying the setup, but always contemplating my next move...
if theyve taken away keyboard input then we certianly are not thier target market
in fact were probably the reason they are removing it it doesnt make sense otherwise
they gave it to select ppl to beta then IGNORED the feedback. the customer service is something that definatly needs work
i think they are stringing us along saying "yea we made this with you in mind" until i hear from someone from inav otherwise this purchase will not be happening
its a shame

I tend to agree. Looks like they think "lets make em believe we are doing this for them and we will increase sales" while not REALLY doing anything for us. O.K., they made the menus bigger. That is helpfull, but it is sooooooo much less then they should have done "for us".Originally Posted by lostreception
However, I did order the upgrade. I will try it out, and see if it really is an improvement and worth switching. If it is, then I will keep it and sell my 2.1.1. If not, then I will sell V3, and stick with 2.1.1 with the various other helpers apps.

.. who knows.. there might be an un-advertised registry entry or command-line switch (as we've seen them do in the past) which may enable keyboard access.. just hoping for the best..
Like I said, it's the upcoming UMPC market that's "forcing" them to make the interface more friendly for small touchscreens.. in which case it also "makes sense"that they removed the keyboard shortcuts, since UMPCs don't have keyboards - at least the ones I've seen so far.

They actually added a few keyboard shortcuts (A for Almanac, T for Trip Information, C for Current Location, and a few others I cannot recall quickly). The fact that we cannot navigate within menus like we used to in previous versions isn't something they removed on purpose, I don't think. They've redone the menus quite a bit and likely in the process they've overlooked losing this important feature. But, yes, it is important that user community will let them know this feature is VERY important.
FWIW, they are not ignoring us. They were just not very good at timeing the beta program... I have been in touch with iNav personnel, and can tell you they are definitely listening to what I have to say.
Believe me guys, I know very well what would make iGuidance the perfect CarPC gps app, and I am representing everyone's point of view when I send feedback to them. If they follow through and implement the few (yet critical) changes that I have suggested (V 3.1?) then we will have a killer GPS app in our hands, perfect for embedding into our frontends.
